Profile

Geologist trained in carbonate sedimentology and petrography, with a master's thesis built on fieldwork, thin-section microscopy and geochemical data from limestone outcrops of the Sylhet Trough. Comfortable moving between the field, the microscope and a GIS desktop, with a strong eye for detail in analysis and technical reporting. Passionate about teaching and research that creates impactful change.

Experience

Trainer

International Organization for Migration (IOM)
  • Designed and delivered training on financial literacy and family-economy management for migratory workers and their families.
  • Provided one-on-one mentorship on viable business ventures and investment plans; promoted diaspora investment and productive use of remittances.
  • Prepared progress reports, business plans and economic profiles via the KOBO Toolbox; supported data-driven candidate selection.

Graduate Research Assistant

Dept. of Geological Sciences, Jahangirnagar University
  • Collected limestone samples from Sylhet Trough outcrops through systematic fieldwork and stratigraphic logging.
  • Prepared and examined thin sections for petrographic study; conducted geochemical testing (elemental composition, carbonate content).
  • Applied ArcGIS, Grapher and Excel; reconstructed Eocene depositional settings; compiled and presented the thesis.

Research

MSc Thesis — Microfacies & Geochemistry of the Sylhet Limestone Formation

Sylhet Trough, Bangladesh · reconstructing Eocene depositional environments

Investigated the petrography, diagenesis, paleontology and geochemistry of the Eocene Sylhet Limestone from 34 samples. Identified biosparite and biopelmicrite dominated by bioclasts, peloids and micrite; diagenetic cementation, compaction, dissolution and recrystallization. Foraminifera and algae define two depositional phases across carbonate-platform settings from shallow lagoons to higher-energy shoals; geochemistry indicates a marginal tectonic setting and warm climate.
